Placemats take more abuse than any other piece of table linen - hot plates, dragged cutlery, daily washing - so these are woven at 240 gsm, the same dense cloth as the blackout curtain panels. Sold in twos, fours and sixes; the price on the page is for two.
They are not heat-proof. A pan straight from the hob will scorch them, as it would any cloth.
